Falls Lake State Recreation Area, 13304 Creedmoor Rd, Wake Forest, offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful.
Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information. 919-676-1027.

Fun With Compasses

A Long Winters Nap

You’re walking through the woods, you hear leaves crumpling. You look to your right, there’s a White-Tailed Deer. You look to your left, and there’s a squirrel. Suddenly it dawns on you! The sounds of summer are gone. Where are the frogs? You usually see an Eastern Box Turtle on this trail, where have they gone? The sun starts to set and you look to the sky, you hear the ducks coming to land on Falls Lake, but you notice another difference between Summer and Winter. The bats have left as well. Come meet a Ranger to learn about how different animals survive throughout the winter.
