Dorothea Dix Park, 2105 Umstead Drive in Raleigh, is the site of one of the most exciting new park projects in America. The 308-acre site blends historic architecture and rich landscapes into a unique destination. The park’s development has just begun, but there are already many events taking place at the park.
In addition, the park hosts more events, including kids’ programs and fitness programs. Keep in mind that there are not yet permanent restroom facilities (there are port-a-johns) or drinkable water at Dix Park.

Explore Dorothea Dix Park – Winter in the Wild (for children 2-6)

Free
Engaging activities will allow little ones to understand how animals in the wild survive the cold months of winter. Live creatures to see and touch will create a memorable experience for all.
Ages 2-6, only. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register the child(ren) only. Adults do not need to register.
Please arrive a few minutes before 11. We know that sometime late arrivals can’t be helped, but arriving late can disrupt the attention of the group.
What to Bring
Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather. Walking in grass and up and down hills will be necessary.

Explore Dorothea Dix Park – Love Bugs! For Children 2-6
Wednesday, February 14th
11 am. to 12 p.m.
Children will enjoy games, stories and songs all featuring those six-legged creatures we call bugs! Children will see and touch live bugs and will create a buggy valentine craft to take home.
Ages 2-6, only. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register the child(ren) only. Adults do not need to register.
