The Durham City Works Union chapter of UE Local 150 is organizing a march on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 15, 2024. The march is a continuation of Dr. King’s work to gain fair pay for workers. He was assassinated while standing with striking sanitation works in Memphis.
The schedule for the march:
- 10:30 a.m.: Gather at CCB Plaza, 201 Corcoran Street, Durham, NC
- 11:30 a.m.: March starts, joined by Durham MLK Steering Committee
- 11:30 a.m.: Program at First Presbyterian Church.
There will also be a kid zone and sign-making station at CCB Plaza, where there will be Dr. King and sanitation worker themed coloring pages. Children will participate in the march too.
