Many colleges have shut down, and K-12 schools are also closing for a period of time. Students without access to internet services may be unable to keep up with their studies, especially as some libraries are also closing.
Charter-Spectrum has committed to offering free access to internet service for students.
Free Broadband and Wi-Fi for Households with Students
Charter-Spectrum announced in a press release that it will offer free access to Spectrum Broadband and Wi-Fi for 60 days to student households.
- Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
- Charter will partner with school districts to ensure local communities are aware of these tools to help students learn remotely. Charter will continue to offer Spectrum Internet Assist, high speed broadband program to eligible low-income households delivering speeds of 30 Mbps.
- Charter will open its Wi-Fi hotspots across its footprint for public use.
- Spectrum does not have data caps or hidden fees.
Low Cost Spectrum Internet Assist for qualified households
If you don’t have a student in your household, but you meet certain qualifications, you may be eligible for Spectrum Internet Assist, which offers high-speed internet at a discount.
The program includes:
- Free internet modem
- High-speed internet at 30 Mbps
- No data caps
- No contracts
- Optional in-home WiFi service at $5/month
This program is available to customers without current service. One or more members of the household must be a recipient of one of the following assistance programs to qualify for Spectrum Internet Assist.
- National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
- Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the NSLP
- Supplemental Security Income (for applicants age 65+ only)
