The Central Carolina Chrysanthemum Society is hosting a plant sale of rare and heirloom chrysanthemums on May 1 and 2, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, at NC State Farmers Market, 1201 Agriculture Street, Raleigh, North Carolina.
They will be selling cuttings of its highly coveted rare plants to members of the public, while supplies last.
There’s no admission charge.
There will be a large selection of cultivars, many of which are difficult to buy from a commercial dealer.
The sale plants will be small cuttings that have been rooted and are ready to be grown in the ground or in pots. Expert growers will be on hand to answer your questions and show photographs of mature plants.
Buyers can contact club members at any time in the future to pose questions as plants grow and flowers develop.
The prices are better than those of national dealers. The cost of plants will be $5.00 apiece, or 5 plants for $20.
Buyers may also join the club. Everyone who decides to join at the sale will receive:
- 3 free plants
- A notebook of growing guidance and plant information
- A subscription to The Chrysanthemum magazine, published quarterly by the National Chrysanthemum Society
Membership in both societies (the national and local one) icosts $45 per year if the member wants to receive all copies of the magazine online, or $55 per year to receive 2 of the issues per year in print. Members meet monthly to learn growing techniques from experts inside and out of the club. They also have a tremendous mum show in November, which will be at Duke Gardens this year.
Come and grow flowers that you have never seen before! Discover why the chrysanthemum is called The Queen of Fall Flowers. These aren’t grocery-store mums!
