North Carolina Botanical Garden, at 100 Old Mason Farm Road in Chapel Hill, is celebrating its 50th birthday with a free concert by The Village Band. The concert is on Sunday, March 20th, 2016, at 3 p.m. The Village Band of Chapel Hill / Carrboro was organized in 1974 as a non-profit community concert band for the purpose of promoting classic town band music in Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and surrounding communities. It currently is comprised of about 60 members from their teens to their 90s, including high school and university students, professionals, and retirees. The band, directed by Dr. Jack Fuller of NC State’s Music Department, has a long history of providing musical entertainment at venues throughout the community.
The event is free but registration is required.
