Cozy Concert: Georgina Simson & Evil English Acoustic
Thursday, March 12th, 2020
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Free
Georgina Simson is an indy-folk artist out of Durham, NC. At fourteen she began writing and working with her father in the studio, picking up the guitar at sixteen. Creating music has always been a cathartic process rather than an intellectual or artistic enterprise. As a result, Georgina vibes intense yet calm: Pain and healing wrapped up in a (mostly) acoustic package. She says she writes skeletons of songs, which become fleshed out with layering of lush harmony and strings of all shapes and sizes. Dubbed as “Americana Radiohead,” “things can get weird and swell and somehow stay perfectly accessible.” A singer-songwriter at heart, her music is soft and poignant with stirring melodies.
Currently she is recording her first full length album at Nightsound Studios in Carrboro, NC. “Songs for My Rabbit,” named aptly for the simple fact that her bunny bore witness to each song’s birth, is due to be released in Fall 2020.
