Art It Up! 2017 is a collection of 18 different events at 16 different locations on Saturday, October 14th, 2017 in the Hillsborough Street district in Raleigh.
Arts, culture, and recreation organizations in the vibrant district will host events focused on: Local Art, Music, Comedy, Yoga, Dance, Theatre, Food, Community Art, Education, Tours.
Events are both FREE and ticketed.

“Beer & Art” at Raleigh Brewing Company

“Beer and Art” will feature local beer, local artists selling and demonstrating their craft, and local food trucks.
Behind the Scenes Tours at Theatre in the Park
107 Pullen Road
TIME: 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m.
COST: Free
Tours of the historic theatre and gardens at the top of every hour, including a brief history of the building and company.
Community Art & Jam Session at Lucky Tree Gallery and Cafe

Get artsy and be a part of a community art installation! The event will kickoff with original music collaborations by the Lucky Tree House Band and a glass blowing workshop by Bee Creative Glass. At 7:00 p.m. the gallery will open a community art project with public input and inspiration. Come be a part of making your own glass piece or enjoy watching the process.
Family Activities on Stafford Commons

Family friendly activites will be taking place on Stafford Commons, behind Talley Student Center and beside Reynolds Coliseum, during NC State’s annual Open House.
Flow Yoga in the Raleigh Rose Garden

Flow into Fall with Allison Waddell from Evolve Movement as she offers a vinyasa class in the Rose Garden at Raleigh Little Theatre. The class will aim to connect mind, body, and spirit through breath work, asana (physical practice), and meditation.
As the seasons change and the days become shorter, cooler and busier, the class will focus your attention on grounding, stoking our inner fire, and calming the mind of vritti (whirling thoughts). Expect a practice that will leave you feeling centered, inspired, and connected to your community and universe.

Iced Coffee: Five Cubes at Jubala

Seed Art Share and Live it Up Hillsborough present Iced Coffee: Five Cubes, by local playwright Rebecca Bossen. Set and performed at Jubala Coffee, this original short play reveals that, like life, sometimes an espresso isn’t always what it seems.
The piece was originally performed as part of this spring’s production of “On Ice” and is directed by Amy Sawyers-Williams and stars Maggie Lea and Matthew Hager. Come early to grab your coffee before the show starts.
Improv Art Session at ComedyWorx

Before the regular ComedyWorx Show at 8:00 p.m. and Harry Show at 10:00 p.m., ComedyWorx will host an improvisational art session where fans create a piece of art together using the power of “Yes And.”

Learn and Engage at The Crafts Center at NC State

Native American Drums and Art at The Gregg Museum

NC State’s Native American student drumming group, Miska Waya (“Red Wolf”), will perform on the front lawn of the new Gregg Museum, in conjunction with one of the museum’s opening exhibitions, Treasures of Native America – Selections from the Drs. Norman and Gilda Greenberg Gift.
The Gregg is open normal Saturday hours (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) with the performance occurring at the times listed above.

An Engineer’s Eye: The Architectural Photography of Gordon Schenck. The gallery is open and free to the public. Guided gallery tours will be held at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and will be 30 minutes in length.
Pottery Demo at YMCA

Pumpkin Patch Bash at Pullen Park

Pick the perfect pumpkin at the Pullen Pumpkin Patch Bash! Join us for a fun family fall festival with a pumpkin patch, carnival games, crafts, a movie, and more! Pumpkins will be available for purchase while supplies last.
Scarecrow Festival at Pullen Park

Pullen Park’s annual homage to the scarecrow. Come build a scarecrow and enjoy other fall activities. Stuffing materials and forms to support your scarecrow are provided. You come prepared with the wardrobe, head, and your creativity! All scarecrows remain on display as long as weather permits, so plan to leave your masterpiece behind.

Wine Tasting at The Green Monkey

The Green Monkey is the funkiest retail shop on Hillsborough Street with plenty of local art for sale. During Art It Up! they will feature a wine tasting with wine reps sampling from select regions around the world. Like what you sample? Wines will be available by the glass or bottle to go.
YMCA Dance Class at Stephenson Amphitheatre
301 Pogue St.
TIME: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
COST: Free
The Hillsborough Street YMCA will sponsor an hour of fun, dance, and exercise at the Stephenson Amphitheatre at Raleigh Little Theatre. The cardio class is for all levels of fitness and experience and will host a variety of styles from Zumba to Hip-Hop dance. The class is free and you do not need to be a YMCA member to participate.
Krispy Kreme Challenge Registration Kickoff

The Krispy Kreme Challenge will host a pop-up shop on the first floor of Aloft and offer the lowest registration rate for one day only. Buy some throwback merchandise and support UNC Children’s Hospital. Note: Krispy Kreme Challenge has tweeted that they’ll be giving away free doughnuts and other goodies.
