Central CAC Community Cook Out

Join us for a community cookout in partnership with the Central CAC to open the 80th year celebration. In addition to dinner, the evening will include community fellowship and family-friendly recreational activities and games.
Memory Lane: Games, Goodies and Good Times
Tuesday, Oct. 2, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Be our guest for an evening of table games with Chavis community Seniors. Games include Checkers, Chess, Pokeno, Bingo and more. In between games enjoy light refreshments and a trip down John Chavis Memorial Park memory lane visiting our historic displays. Hear about the life and time of Gretchel Carter-Hinton, a Chavis Heights native and long-standing community supporter. We will also be providing trolley tours showcasing important local landmarks. Kickin’ It with The Youth
Wednesday, Oct. 3, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Inviting teens and their families to join us for an evening of teen takeover fun! We’ll transform the community center into a hive of activity including basketball, laser tag, giant board games, art and more! In addition, Ligon Middle School students will be performing original theatrical vignettes. Refreshments will be provided
Circle of Friends Egg-stravaganza Community Breakfast

Rise, shine and join us for a community breakfast provided in partnership with the Circle of Friends Senior Club. In addition to breakfast treats we will have a presentation about the exciting future of John Chavis Memorial Park, storytelling and a musical performance. Artival: Art Exhibition & Pop Up Studio
Friday, Oct. 5, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Adults Only)
We invite you to an evening of art exhibition showcasing past and present artwork about John Chavis Memorial Park produced by local artist and talent. Enjoy beverages and hos D’oeuvres while ambling through the exhibition and listening to live music. Stop in at the Pop Up Paint Studio and try your hand at creating your own Chavis work of art.
Family Frolics
Saturday, Oct. 6, 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Join us for a family-friendly walk around the track and step your way to an official 80th Anniversary T-shirt. Hang around for inflatables, games and more. Finally, help us wrap up the 80th year celebration with music and an epic dance party featuring live performance and demos!
